Since 1964, countless individuals and organizations have made a significant impact on the careers and lives of thousands around the world by sponsoring their participation in the Academy of American and International Law. We need your support even more today to ensure that deserving individuals can attend the Academy and use what they learn to promote the rule of law and effect positive change in the world.
The Academy offers comprehensive instruction on the U.S. legal system, the rule of law, and international business law. The training received and relationships formed at the Academy allow participants to better serve their communities, to promote the rule of law, and to improve their career and lives. Past participants have gone on to serve at the highest level of government, as chief justice of their country’s top court, on UN tribunals, as President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, as leaders of major law firms and corporate legal offices, and as leaders of the legal profession.
Increased financial constraints and a reduction in support for educational training has put the Academy out of reach for many individuals. Each year, we are forced to deny scholarships to more than thirty deserving individuals seeking to attend the Academy.
To reduce the number of individuals unable to participate in the Academy because of the lack of financial resources, The Center for American and International has established the Mark Smith Academy Scholarship Endowment Fund.
Named in honor of Mark Smith, who dedicated over two decades of service to leading the Academy, this endowment pays tribute to Mark’s unwavering commitment to fostering inclusivity, intellectual growth, and a supportive environment for every participant. Mark's passion for the Academy and for promoting the rule of law has left an enduring legacy, touching the lives of countless graduates who fondly remember him as a mentor and a friend.
Your donations will allow more individuals to access the transformative opportunities offered by the Academy while strengthening the Academy by ensuring participants have diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
